Overview

Armed with a strong foundation of core subjects, the students are encouraged to develop a capability to work in interdisciplinary areas like Cyber-Physical Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, Factory Automation, Electronic System Design, etc. The Department strongly associates with Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. and has benefited largely from the Advanced Factory Automation laboratory set up under this collaboration. The program’s interdisciplinary nature has helped graduates develop skills in various areas, making them the most sought-after engineers in the growing control and automation industry.

The Department is known for its research in various domains, such as Advanced Control, Process Control, Industrial Automation, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Image Processing, medical imaging, healthcare technology, and Machine Vision.

Faculty members and students of the department have achieved many milestones in terms of National and International awards and recognition. The department has won the Gold Cup at Mitsubishi Electric Cup a prestigious National Level Automation Competition for students organised by Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Limited. Also, the department won the Silver Cup consecutively three times in a row in the same Competition.  Further, the department has secured 3rd Position at the Open Automation Challenge-2024 organized by B&R Automation.

Students of the department also secured Best Project Awards and many International Scholarships from the International Society of Automation (ISA). Also, the department students are team members of various institute-level competitions i.e. ROBOCON, Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS), Team Dyaus, etc.
