Team Dyaus under SAE Nirma Collegiate Club, Institute of Technology, Nirma University, has secured 9th rank internationally in the Turksat Model Satellite Competition 2024, organized under Teknofest, at the Aksaray Hisar Shooting Range in Turkey, held from September 18-20, 2024. The team captain was our E&I Department student Dhir Gandhi (21BEI014).
Teknofest is Türkiye’s biggest award-winning Technology Festival of Aerospace and Technology. Over 160 teams participated worldwide, making this accomplishment a testament to our team’s dedication and engineering skills.
The competition challenged the teams to design and build a CanSat (can-sized miniature satellite) to perform various technical tasks under the specified conditions. Over 7 competitive rounds, Team Dyaus showcased remarkable perseverance and innovation, successfully advancing through each stage to achieve 9th place.
Team Robocon represented India at the International ABU Robocon competition in Vietnam held during August 23-30, 2024. Competing against 13 teams from various Countries of Asia-Pacific region, the Team Nirma Robocon won the prestigious Kajima Corporation Award at International ABU Robocon 2024 for innovative and robust designs of Robots.
Nirma Robocon team won the National Championship title in 2024. Competing against 86 teams from esteemed institutions nationwide, including IITs and NITs, our team excelled in creativity and technical prowess.
The National Robocon Competition was held in New Delhi from July 12–14, 2024, organised by Doordarshan and IIT, Delhi. As a result of their remarkable performance, Team Nirma Robocon has earned the honor of representing India in the International Robocon competition. From the EI department, students Foram Patel (21bei033), Het Patel (21bei034), Devanshu Kotwani (21bei012), Ashutosh Dash (23bei015), and Thakkar Jay (23bei067) were part of the team.
We are happy to share that our team, Green Guardians comprised of 3rd year B.Tech Electronics and Instrumentation students Aryan, Priyanshu, Pooja, and Bhavin under the mentorship of Prof. Sneh Soni has secured 3rd place at the National Open Automation Challenge 2024 organized by B&R Automation at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pune. More than 50 teams from different institutions all over India submitted proposals for OAC-24, 14 teams were shortlisted based on their innovative approach and application to implement the solution in a defined time frame. The teams were invited to demonstrate the project in front of the jury at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pune on 11th July 2024
The team has implemented the plastic waste recycling process to safeguard the environment using different robotics and automation tools such as Automation Studio, MapView, and scene viewer, which was well appreciated by the jury and audience. The team was honored with a winning trophy and certificates by regional Managing Director – S&E Asia, Mr. Jhankar Dutta.
Saket Joshi and his team secured the 2nd runners-up position, winning a prize of ₹50,000 at the Invention Factory Award at IIT Gandhinagar for their innovative idea. The team created an innovative biotech device to treat Willis-Ekbom disease (Restless Legs Syndrome).
Team Arrow, a part of the SAE Nirma Collegiate Club, has secured an impressive overall 3rd position among 67 international teams at the AUVSI – Students Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) 2024 competition held in Maryland, USA, on June 25–27, 2024. The team was awarded a cash prize of $2,000 and a plaque in recognition of their outstanding performance. One of the team members was our student, Aditya Raj Maheshwari (21BEI001).
Our team competed with prestigious institutions such as Cornell University, University College London, North Carolina State University, Virginia Tech, Purdue University, McGill University, and several other renowned universities from the United States, Canada, Norway, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Poland.
The Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Department of the Institute of Technology is thrilled to share that our student, Mr. Nihar Vadadoriya, has been honored with the 2024 Food and Pharmaceutical Industries Division Scholarship for 2,000 USD.
ISA Educational Foundation Scholarships are awarded to college or university students who demonstrate exceptional potential to make significant long-term contributions to the fields of automation and control. These scholarships recognize and support future leaders whose innovative thinking and dedication will shape advancements in these critical industries. The scholarship awards support tuition fees and related expenses, and research activities and initiatives.
Team Dyaus (SAE) successfully participated in the final round of the In-SPACe CanSAT INDIA student competition, held from April 15th to 17th, 2024, in Ognaj, Ahmedabad,Gujarat. Our student Dhir Gandhi was a member of the team.
The team, consisting of Dhir Gandhi (21BEI014), Bhavyalal Pandya (21BEI029), Shivam Soni (21BME136), Sahil Menpara (20BME068), and Kajal Lochab (21BCE103), showcased their final prototype at Level 3 after successfully clearing Levels 1 and 2 of the national-level robot-making competition “Robofest Gujarat 3.0,” held at Science City, Ahmedabad, from December 28 to 31, 2023. The team received a prize of Rs. 2,50,000 in the competition.
Dharan Shah, Dhananjay Lakhani, and Pratham Panchal won the Consolation Prize of ₹ 2,50,000 in Category 7 – Application Based Robots (Others Category) at the Grand Finale of Robofest 3.0 organized at Science City, Ahmedabad from 29th December – 31st December 2023 by Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST).
Team SwayamVaha from Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering Department cleared Ideation stage (Stage1) and Proof of Concept Stage (Stage 2) in Rover robot category of ROBOFEST 3.0 organized by GUJCOST, Department of Science and Technology, Govt of Gujarat.
After an intensive six-month journey of ideation, prototyping, and evaluation, Nirma University proudly announces its remarkable success at the Vishwakarma Awards 2023. Out of 42 participating students, our institution not only showcased unparalleled creativity and innovation but also achieved significant recognition.
In this rigorous competition, where talent and ingenuity collided, Saket Joshi and Sanskruti Gondaliya of Nirma University secured the “Best Product Design Award and a cash prize of 1 Lakh INR.
Our PhD student Meet Parmar presented the research paper titled: “Hybrid Force and Position Control of the KUKA IIWA Robotic Manipulator” atthe International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Signal and Image Processing (AIRoSIP) 2023 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 9th – 10th August 2023. He received the Best Presenter award in the same.
Devanshu Kotwani (21BEI012), Foram Patel (21BEI033), and Het Parel (21BEI034) were part of Team Nirma Robocon. The team became the 2nd runner-up at the ABU Robocon national-level competition organized by DD India on June 18, 2023.
The department is delighted to announce that (19BIC014) under the guidance of Dr H K Patel has emerged as the Winner of the Dewang Mehta IT Award 2023 on 10/08/2023.
ISA Students’ Chapter Nirma University is very delighted to share that Mr. Haard Shah from the section has been honoured with ‘Excellence in Student Section Leadership Award’. This remarkable achievement marks a momentous milestone for us, as it is the first time ever that this esteemed recognition has been bestowed upon our chapter on a global scale. So far no section president has won this prestigious award from the entire District-G. So, ISA, Nirma University has maintained the legacy to signature its journey with Excellence.

The Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering department of the Institute of Technology, Nirma University takes immense pride to announce that our student, Ms Prapti Bordoloi (3000 USD) and our alumni, Ms Somya Gupta (3000 USD) are selected to receive the prestigious ISA Educational Foundation Scholarship Award 2023. Ms Somya Gupta is also selected to receive the Food and pharmaceutical industries division scholarship in the amount of 2000 USD.
They have received this for their illustration of outstanding potential for contributions to the field of automation and instrumentation systems. ISA Educational Foundation Scholarships are awarded to college or university students who demonstrate outstanding potential for long-range contribution to the fields of automation and control. The scholarship awards support tuition and related expenses and research activities and initiatives.
On 24th and 25th February 2023 Infineon Technologies organized a workshop at Nirma University followed by a hackathon. The contest was designed around three problem statements, Voice control over PSoC, Cryptanalysis, and Smart Navigator.
On the first day of the workshop, participants were provided with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop the project. The day ended with a quiz round, where Jainam Prajapati, a third-year student from Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering department, was declared the second runner-up. The top three position holders were given prizes for their performance.
Team “A-Man-Tab” comprising of Electronics and Instrumentation engineering undergraduate students Shivam Bhatia, Umang Kathiriya, Raj Dalwadi of Institute of Technology, Nirma University, under mentorship of Prof. Sneh K. Soni represented Institute of Technology, Nirma University in 3rd edition of Open Automation Challenge-2023. The competition is a national level automation competition organised by ABB and B&R Automation. This year the competition was held at NBN Sinhgad School of Engineering, Pune during 16-17 February 2023.
The team A-Man-Tab was selected in the top 15 teams for the project demonstration out of 106 proposals received. The competition was planned for two weeks, during the first week all the participants were given online training on different tools such as Automation studio, Robot Studio. During the second week based on the learning received from the training sessions, teams were required to implement prototype of project submitted in their proposal.
The team worked on the theme & Smart Automation for Healthcare / Pharmaceutical Manufacturing & Automated the Tablet manufacturing process and presented future prospects using ABB and B&R automation technology. Team proposed a solution from handling raw material, monitoring and control of different unit operations followed by quality inspection and packaging, with additional remote dashboard facility in the competition. Dr. H.K. Patel – HoD (EI Dept.) and Dr. R. N. Patel – Director, IT, NU, congratulated the team for their achievement and encouraged them to carry forward the legacy of excellence.
From 9th to 14th December 2022, the All India University west zone basketball tournament was conducted at M L Sukhadia University, Udaipur. A. Praveen Kumar from Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Department was a part of the Nirma University basketball team. In this tournament, Nirma University basketball team reached the Semifinals of the tournament.
Foram Patel (21BEI033) was part of Team Nirma Robocon. The team became the 2nd runner-up at the ABU Robocon International-Level competition organized by ABU on August 21, 2022, and the National Champion at the ABU Robocon National-Level competition organized by DD India on July 16, 2022.

Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University takes immense proud to announce that three of our students working under the aegis of ISA student’s chapter Nirma University are selected to receive the prestigious ISA PMCD Scholarship Award for the year 2020-2021. Students successfully achieved a total scholarship of $2500. The ISA Process Measurement and Control Division accept scholarship applications every year. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program related to process measurement and control.
Team CON-SOL-E of IC department, Institute of Technology, Nirma University of won the GOLD CUP at a prestigious national level competition MECUP 2020. Team got prize money worth Rs 1,00,000 and MITSUBISHI will sponsor entire team’s trip to Japan.
Students of the department have won silver cup consecutively three times in a row [2017,2018 and 2019] at MECUP, a prestigious National Level Automation Competition for Students organised by Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt Ltd.
The Department is highly privileged to announce that the students from IC branch have achieved the international scholarship [2019 ISA Educational Foundation Scholarship] of $1500 – $2000. The felicitated students had been working under the aegis of ISA student’s chapter Nirma University.
Makerfest – A Project expo -2019 held at M.S.University, Baroda. IC department’s student team participated and won second prize.
Innovseed Incubation LLP- Project Expo-2019 held at Surat Convention Centre supported by NITI Aayog. IC department’s student team participated and won second prize.
Team Con-Sol-E 2.0 from IC dept. IT, NU participated in 3 rd Mitsubishi Electric Cup. A National Level Automation competition and secured Silver cup for the year 2018 with cash prize of Rs. 75,000/-.
